Kevin Hart has been the center of controversy over the past couple of months after old tweets of the comedian resurfaced in which he made some homophobic comments. Since then, the ‘Think Like A Man’ actor has declined to host the 2019 Oscar Ceremonies and also declined to apologize, again, for his past tweets.
Before going on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Hart sat down with Variety News to explain the situation:
“Would I ever do it? No, it’s done. It’s done,” Hart said. “The moment came and it was a blessing and I was excited at the opportunity and I still am. In my mind I got the job, it was a dream job, and things came up that simply prohibited it from happening. But I don’t believe in going backwards.”
Hart has mentioned numerous times that in the past he had already apologized for the tweets and later went on the Ellen DeGeneres show to speak on the matter some more.
While Hart continues to say that he will not host the Oscars this year, the Academy still says they have interest in bringing him on. With the ceremonies coming in February, the clock is ticking to find a new host for this year’s most glamorous Hollywood award show.
