Flip Saunders announced that Kevin Garnett, 39, is going to be the starting power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves once this season comes. Minnesota has a lot of young players, which makes Garnett the perfect guy to throw into the starting lineup to help guide the guys.
He’s gonna start. That’s who he is. KG is a starter. He’s the best power forward on our team, actually. No one rebounds better. He’s the best help defender. No one communicates better. He knows the offense, and he can pass it.
Last season, Garnett only averaged 6.9 poins, 6.6 rebounds, and .4 blocks per game, but that doesn’t at all account for all of the leadership he will be bringing this team throughout the upcoming season. With a team so young, it is very important that a highly respected veteran such as KG is there to mentor players while keeping them on the right track.
In his 20 years as a player in the NBA, Garnett has had a very storied career while learning and competing so much. This team will once again benefit from another season with KG on their team, and every player on that team will be better because of that.
