Kevin Garnett is the best player in Minnesota Timberwolves history, and it isn’t close. He’s interested in returning to Minnesota – in an ownership role. He won’t do so, however, as long as the team is owned by Glen Taylor. From Awful Announcing:
“I don’t want to be partners with Glen [Taylor], and I wouldn’t want to be partners with Glen in Minnesota,” he said. “I would love to be part of a group that buys him out and kind of removes him and go forward.”
Garnett’s relationship with Taylor has been strained for years. Garnett left the Timberwolves after GM Flip Saunders passed away in 2015. Garnett said that Taylor’s vision of the franchise after Saunders’ passing showed him “the true Glen Taylor.” He also said that he felt as though Taylor never valued him enough for his contributions to the franchise.
Garnett played in Minnesota from 1995 to 2007 and then again from 2015 to 2016 after spending time with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.
Since his retirement, he’s found an unlikely career in the media, hosting his own segment on TNT’s Inside the NBA called “KG’s Area 21.”
In April, Garnett ripped the Timberwolves’ ownership, saying that the two parties didn’t “see eye to eye.”
