According to an anonymous NBA player, Kevin Durant will head to the Eastern Conference and join the Washington Wizards so he can try to win a title. Coming to an Eastern Conference where it is much easier to make the playoffs could benefit Durant and help him be able to rest up more heading into the playoffs.
Following from Basketball Insiders.
“Players will consider going to the East, for sure,” one Western Conference player told Basketball Insiders. “The East is down right now and the West is a dogfight. The seventh- or eighth-seeded team in the West could possibly make the Eastern Conference Finals with how things are now.”
“It wouldn’t be a bad idea [to join an East team],” added another NBA player. “I’m pretty sure Kevin Durant is going to start it off and go home to [the Washington Wizards in] D.C.”
Being in the Eastern Conference could have highly benefitted Durant this season so he would have not have had to worry about his team falling behind in the playoff picture when he had to miss games due to injury. More time could have been taken for rest, and maybe the Durantula wouldn’t have needed to end his season early.
Keep in mind we have no clue who this anonymous player is, or how credible they are. The player could have ranged anywhere from Russell Westbrook to Sim Bhullar, or evenKevin Durant himself.
The Wizards are all set up to make a push at Durant in the summer of 2016 without any contracts other than John Wall’s guaranteed past the 2015-2016 season. LeBron James may have set a trend of going home, and Durant could choose to follow in his footsteps to make his city proud.
