Kevin Durant had a lengthy free agency period. The former Oklahoma City Thunder held meetings with several teams before deciding on his future. After more than a year of speculation on his playing career moving forward, Durant chose to go to the Golden State Warriors.
Durant’s deal is the classic 1+1 contract. He is signed for two years with a player option on the second year. In all likelihood, Durant will be opting out this summer when the salary cap jumps up even higher to secure a bigger deal.
But make no mistake, Durant does not plan on leaving Golden State once he becomes a free agent again.
Durant: "I plan on being here. I don't want to go through that again."

Of course, Durant is always going to say that in front of the media. He has already received tons of criticism for leaving the Thunder to join a better team. Saying that he’s not sure about his future on said new team wouldn’t go well with the general public.
However, everything we know about Durant points to this being true. He has been described as someone who does not like the attention of being courted or spoken about so heavily.
There is always a chance that Kevin Durant leaves his new home, of course. The immense pressure of winning on such a superteam consisting of three of the greatest shooters of all time could be a massive burden. Not winning a title would be a disappointment and an embarrassment. But Durant is at least saying the right things, and seems to mean them.
