When the trade went down for Dion Waiters to be sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder there were so many questions and different confusing notions of what might be going on in Oklahoma City concerning the future of one of their young pieces in Reggie Jackson now that Waiters was in the fold.
There’s been problem with both guys in the past with their respective teams. Reggie Jackson has talked about wanting to start, trade rumors and move up to get more minutes. Waiters on the other hand had some documented issues with the Cleveland Cavaliers before he got traded and both players are fully in the fold for the Thunder rotation but it seems like the star of the Thunder, Kevin Durant, has taken a young player under his wing.
Dion Waiters’ locker has been moved, per the request of Durant and Westbrook. They wanted him closer to them to help him get integrated.
Waiters’ locker previously was on the opposite side of the locker room, next to Reggie Jackson. (Lance Thomas’ old spot.)

Waiters seems to be an insurance policy for that bench scoring if and possibly when Reggie Jackson leaves the Thunder. Not a bad choice to have either because in the last Thunder game, Waiters performed well by scoring 21 points coming off the bench.
In the long run, this might mean a lot for Waiters psyche. Durant wants to help a young, new teammate who previously struggled to build locker room relationships with another star in the Eastern Conference.
More than anything though, the story may be writing itself where Jackson is concerned. When the team’s stars embrace the new guy more than the guy who’s been there with them, who is clearly that players replacement, this might be bad for Jackson who may, one way or another, be on his way out.
