Kevin Durant will soon have a big decision to make. The former NBA MVP will have to choose where his career will be going. Does he elect to stay in Oklahoma City for at least one more season alongside Russell Westbrook? Or does he decide to forego a plan that has been years in the making and join up with a big market team looking for the next star?
We’re still a few weeks away before he chooses but one thing is for sure, KD’s upcoming choice will be the story of the summer. There have been numerous reports about where his future will be. Houston has all but been eliminated from contention for his services but the rest of the NBA are viable contenders for his services in one way or another. Some are more serious options than others but no matter how you slice it, everyone will hunt for KD.
The Thunder have the best chance. They can offer him the most money and also offer him a sense of stability, a sense of home. Plus, having Russell Westbrook for at least one more season helps.
All the money and fancy locations are nice but for Durant it appears it all comes down to one deciding factor. He’s going to decide on his future based on a basketball decision.
Durant said the following at an event for his new KD9 sneakers, courtesy of Anthony Slater from ‘The Oklahoman’.
“I just want to play again,” Durant said, via The Oklahoman’s Anthony Slater. “I’m excited to play the game again. Olympics has given me the opportunity. I know how important this time is. Like I’ve been saying all season, I have people I trust. I have all the trust in the world with them that we’ll sit down and figure this thing out, figure out what’s best for me. It’s a little bit more complicated now, but it’s still a few weeks away. It’s one of those situations where you work so hard to put yourself in a situation to kind of control your own destiny. I give all the credit to how much work I put in and the people who’ve helped me put that work in. I’m worried about basketball. That’s what it is for me. It’s a basketball decision. I’m looking forward to the future.”
