Over the years, Kevin Durant has gone from being a quiet, secluded guy to an outspoken and often very candid person. And it’s fantastic.
Nothing has changed in his latest sit down with podcast star Bill Simmons of The Ringer. Over the summer, KD joined Simmons’ show Any Given Wednesday along with Nas and it was fresh off Durant’s decision to join the Warriors. It’s been a little over six months since Kevin Durant signed with the Dubs and his return to Oklahoma City to face off with the Thunder is coming soon.
But Durant didn’t want to talk too much about that with Simmons. Instead, the two talked about basketball from Kevin Durant’s perspective. He spoke about the confusing thought of who an ‘alpha’ is on an NBA team, how the media and people on Twitter and social media take things too seriously and even went into some detail about some current NBA players he enjoys watching today. Giannis Antetokounmpo and, of course, Kristaps Porzingis are just two of the big-name guys KD loves.
He also went into some detail about some former teammates like James Harden, Dion Waiters, Steven Adams, Enes Kanter and of course Russell Westbrook. But he’s sick of talking about his non-rivalry with Russ. Instead, when talking about his return to OKC, he spoke about the people he’ll see around the stadium and the arena employees and how odd it will be when he enters the visiting locker room for the first time.
Durant also spoke about being disappointed in some NBA legends talking negatively about players today just for the simple fact that the players today look up to the stars of the past. KD also opened up about the rivalry he has with LeBron James, and despite the team success James has, the stats between the two stars are indeed very similar.

Durant opens up like never before, going in-depth on topics of the greatest athletes ever, getting advice from Jay-Z and even talking about his relationship with his agent Rich Kleiman, who also joins the pod late in the episode.
