I’m confused. We all know that Kevin Durant isnt the biggest fan of media attention. Recently he has lashed out at the media. We know he’s a chill guy.
So why bother with free agency? Seriously let’s break it down. Most of the teams that want him have a large media market, something that KD likes about OKC is the small media market. And now he’s saying that he’s not looking forward to the attention that comes with free agency.
“I’m really not a guy for all the attention, and I know the attention is on me and the spotlight is on me as far as what’s going to happen and what the future holds,” he said. “But I put myself in a position where I worked as hard as I can (and) people respect my game and really that’s what matters to me. My teammates, my peers, the fans of the game (who) respect how I play, and all that stuff comes with it, so I just try to look at it that way.
“I knew it was coming, you know? I wouldn’t be who I was if I didn’t know this stuff was coming, so it’s just a part of it man. I just try to stay around people who really just care about me as a man, and as a basketball player, (people) who want me happy and my friends that I love every single day.”
Then why go into free agency?! I really don’t understand this. The only possible reason I can think of is that he wants to leave.
But then again, can he deal with media pressure? Because if you think about it, for a superstar like Kevin Durant is, he’s had barely any backlash from his lack of success as a basketball player. LeBron sneezes and gets hate, KD blows a game and nobody says anything.
If he does go to somewhere new team. He will have to succeed from day one. He’s at that point in his career where his efforts got to be called out.
