Down two points late in the fourth quarter, Warriors forward Kevin Durant pulled up and nailed a three-point bomb over LeBron James. It was an audacious move, and it paid off. Durant spoke to Doris Burke immediately after the game about the shot:
“All I was looking at was the bottom of the net,” said Durant. “I’ve been working on that shot my whole life, and for that one to go in, that was liberating right there. We’ve got one more win, we’ve got to keep going.”
Durant finished with a team-high 31 points on 10-18 shooting. He also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists. The Warriors won with a balanced scoring effort from their three best scorers; Klay Thompson scored 30 points, and Stephen Curry scored 26. Burke asked Durant about the unselfish nature of the Warriors:
“We practice it every day. Coach talks about it,” said Durant. “In the third quarter we went a few possessions without even moving the ball. He came back and chewed us out. Nobody took it personal, we just tried to go out there and move the ball in the fourth and we got some stops and [were] able to make some threes.”
