West Virginia is at least saying the right things before they get ready to face the 36-0 Kentucky Wildcats in the Sweet 16.
Going up against the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night doesn’t appear to be phasing West Virginia freshman guard Daxter Miles, who thinks his Mountaineers actually have the advantage. From Brett Dawson of Rivals.com:
West Virginia’s Daxter Miles Jr. on UK: “I give them them their props. Salute them to getting to 36-0. But tomorrow they’re gonna be 36-1.”
— Brett Dawson (@BDawsonRivals) March 25, 2015
For emphasis, Miles repeated it: “They’re gonna be 36-1.”

Daxter Miles: “They should be more intimidated, because they’re the ones that got the high standard, and we’re coming for them.”

This is the only mindset to have if you want your season to carry on. The first objective is belief. Miles even went on to hint that Kentucky isn’t a team that plays hard. The response from Wildcats guards Andrew and Aaron Harrison:
Andrew Harrison told that Daxter Miles Jr. said he doesn’t think UK plays hard: “Next question, please.”

After a follow-up, Andrew Harrison said it’s “kind of hurtful” that anybody would think UK doesn’t play hard: “I guess we’ll see tomorrow.”

Aaron Harrison: “It’s not really about talking. They got to go out there and play tomorrow just like we do. We’ll see tomorrow night.”

And Kentucky big man Willie Cauley-Stein (via Kentucky.com), who says Miles’ comments have him “juiced up”:
The only thing left to do is watch these two teams battle on Thursday night and find out what kind of pure confidence and discipline West Virginia can muster in the marathon that is Kentucky. As if we needed any more of a reason to watch this game, but Daxter Miles just gave it to us.
