Kenneth Faried had an up and down 2013-2014 season he had some stretches where his minutes were cut, and had some cold streaks throughout that time span. Trade rumors swirled around Faried going to The Knicks and other teams as well, but it seems like after the trade deadline Faried put the rumors aside and finished out the season strong. Although he set a career high in points last season with 1,096 his rebounding totals were down from the year before.
Faried has been one of the bright spots of Team USA averaging 14 PPG with 8 REB’s as well. The energy he has brought to the Team USA roster has brought new life through the team, and has helped inside the paint. With Faried’s play as of late it seems like things have been patched up between him and The Nuggets so much that they’ve started talking contract extension. The Denver Nuggets were hesitant on giving Faried a large contract that he’d demand on the open market and that forced Denver to explore his value last season.
Players with the motor and hustle that Faried bring to the roster is very uncommon for a big man and Denver’s change of heart is a smart move for the team. Faried’s speed and athleticism has proved to be valuable, and Denver was on the verge to something big until they lost Head Coach George Karl two seasons ago. Also the injuries to Ty Lawson and Danilo Gallinari didn’t help the team obviously either. Faried should get a contract extension, I don’t see Denver letting him go but if they do make the mistake it’s one they’ll be questioned for everytime he puts on an NBA jersey.
