Kenneth Faried was impressed with the turnout at the Nuggets’ NBA Global Game in London vs. the Pacers. Faried praised the British crowd and simultaneously ripped the crowds in Denver. From Altitude TV:
On the atmosphere –
“I ain’t played in front of a crowd like that since the World Cup games. It was nice to see, a home crowd cheering for us, a lot of odd jerseys in there, a lot of Indiana jerseys in there but it was a packed arena and a great atmosphere, great to see all the fans cheering. It didn’t matter what team won, they just wanted to see an NBA game.”
How did the crowd boost your energy? –
“It always does to play in front of a home crowd like that, a crowd period, is just always a great sight to see. For us, at our home, we don’t have fans like that, like that’s just packing the arena every night like the Golden State Warriors, or like a Memphis, or some of the top teams in the league, San Antonio. But when we do get fans like that, that’s the results we put out because we feed off them.”
What was the difference in the win, was it the crowd? –
“I think everybody just came in, we saw the crowd, like I said we don’t play in front of crowds like that all the time so we wanted to show out. We are a good team and we do deserve to have people come to our games, at home.”
Whether or not he intended it, Faried took a pretty sizable shot at Nuggets fans with this statement. He isn’t wrong, though. Per ESPN’s attendance report, the Nuggets rank dead last in home attendance with 13,782 fans per game. The Nuggets and the Timberwolves (13,830 fans per game) are the only teams with an average below 15,000.
