When the New Orleans Pelicans brought in veteran big man Kendrick Perkins during the offseason, it was kind of head-scratching move. They already had enough big men to solidify a great rotation in an attempt to return to the playoffs. Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca both signed deals over the summer and they still have Anthony Davis, quite possibly the best power forward in the NBA today.
They signed Kendrick Perkins and instantly the signing was thought as a great move to solidify the locker room. Kendrick has received rave reviews from former teammates in the past but now, Perkins handed out his own rave review of one of his teammates. The star of the show, Anthony Davis, by comparing him to two former star teammates.
Following from the Black and Blue Report, a podcast from the Pelicans.
“To be honest, with his basketball game he got a lot of KG (Kevin Garnett) in him. His personality has got a lot of Kevin Durant in him. It’s different.”
It appears to be an accurate comparison for Davis from Perkins about two of the guys he played with for some of the longest stretches of his career when he spent time with the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder.
If the comparison was the other way around, there could be some concern among Pelicans fans because we know, Kevin Garnett is crazy but playing like Kevin Durant could possibly change the way the roster currently looks.
At the end of the day, if all goes well, Davis could go down as one of the top power forwards of all-time and he could be right up there with the likes of Kevin Garnett and he is already up there with Kevin Durant as one of the best players in the NBA.
