Kendrick Lamar and SZA will not perform their Oscar-nominated Black Panther single at the awards ceremony.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, TDE labelmates K. Dot and SZA will not perform “All the Stars” at this year’s Oscars. “All the Stars” is nominated for Best Original Song.
Variety reports that the duo won’t be taking the Oscar stage on Sunday, February 24 because according to a source close to the situation “logistics and timing” play a factor.
The TDE pair who were nominated for four Grammys this year, were also a no show to music’s biggest night.
An Academy source also confirmed that the song will not be performed by another act.
Deadline reported that Lamar has been abroad and, “the closing four-week schedule post-noms was a challenge to turn around a stage performance that would do justice to “All the Stars.”
While Kendrick Lamar and SZA won’t perform, all other four nominated songs will be performed including: “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (Gillian Welch and David Rowlings), “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns (Bette Midler and Marc Shaiman), “I’ll Fight” from RBG (Jennifer Hudson) and “Shallow” from A Star Is Born (Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper).
