Kemba Walker quietly had a stellar season amidst a mostly forgettable one from the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged career highs in points per game, field goal percentage, and three-point percentage all while playing better than perceived defense. He, however, suffered an injury during the season that forced him to have surgery in May. According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the injury will force him to miss the NBA exhibition game in Africa.
Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker will not play in an NBA Africa exhibition next month as a precaution following surgery in May on his left knee.
An informed source told the Observer Tuesday that Walker won’t play, but he will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for the exhibition Aug. 5. Walker was invited to be one of four captains in a matchup between NBA players with African ties and a world team.
It is nice to see Kemba will still travel to Africa and experience the now annual game played in Johannesburg. Hopefully, he will be completely healthy by when it is time to start playing basketball again.
