As Kelly Oubre Jr. continues to work on his skills to become ready to be a star in the NBA, he is not going to lose sight on being a great team player. To become great, he is going to work on getting teammates open shots by drawing double teams and finding the open man after a drive.
Following From Washington Post.
“I can make shots, definitely, and I can play defense,” Oubre told Scott Jackson and Brian Mitchell during an interview on ESPN 980’s “Inside the Locker Room” on Wednesday. “The thing I want to really emphasize is being the best playmaker that I can be, getting into the paint, not necessarily always shooting when I’m in the lane, but kicking out to the open guy or just making the necessary plays.”
The Wizards already have a great playmaker in John Wall, who does a phenomenal job of finding open wings on the three-point line after he drives the lane. With the targets Washington has acquired this offseason, having another player who can get guys open shots would really benefit this team.
From everything Oubre has been saying since he was drafted by Washington, there is no way a fan could not like the rookie. He wants to be great, wants this team to be great, and is doing everything in his power to make that happen.
