Kelis will co-host the upcoming Netflix series, Cooked With Cannabis, with chef Leather Storrs. In each episode, three professional chefs will battle for a prize of $10,000. In order to come up with the cash, each chef must make a three-course meal infused with cannabis. Along the way, special guests like Too Short and El-P will stop by to help Storrs and Kelis make their decision.
“As a chef, I was intrigued by the food and as an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society. In this country, many things have been used systematically to oppress groups of people, but this is so culturally important for us to learn and grow together,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Cooked with Cannabis is a show where weed is a seasoning rather than the reason. It’s granular, educational, heartfelt and smart. The contestants had personal and romantic relationships with the herb and they knew its intricacies: medically, chemically, spiritually and as an intoxicant. Further, there was a real sense of community and camaraderie,” Storrs added.
Cooked With Cannabis will arrive on the streaming platform on April 20, 2020.
