Keith Thurman has reportedly scheduled his return to the ring. He will be the A-side of a headlining fight in Las Vegas, Nevada during a FOX PPV card on January 29, 2022. Thurman has not fought since losing his welterweight title to Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas in 2019. If the former welterweight champion secures a win, he will likely challenge for a title during a fight later this year.
Thurman’s opponent, Mario Barrios, is also looking to bounce back. The former 140-pound division champion lost his first professional bout to Gervonta Davis in June. At welterweight, Barrios believes he can challenge for a title as well if her gets past Thurman.
Barrios-Thurman is the latest PPV fight added to FOX’s PBC schedule. On New Year’s Day, the network will also host a PPV heavyweight event featuring Charles Martin and Luis Ortiz. As a result, Jermell Charlo-Brian Castano II could land on a PPV card as well.
