New York Giants rookie pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux will miss three to four weeks with an MCL sprain. The talented first-round selection avoided a major injury Sunday night when he went down due to a cut-block by a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. He waived off the medical cart and slowly made his way to the medical tent. While they aren’t likely to rush him back, the New York Giants are hopeful he will be available for the team’s regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Initial tests revealed that Giants’ DE Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered a sprained MCL that is expected to sideline him 3-4 weeks, per source. His ACL and meniscus were intact.
Giants are still hopeful that he will be ready for the regular-season opener vs. the Titans, per source.

As a member of the Oregon Ducks, Kayvon Thibodeaux recorded 84 solo tackles, 126 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, and 19 sacks in 30 games. The New York Giants are beginning a rebuild in earnest with a new Head Coach and they believe Thibodeaux can be a key star on the defensive side of the ball. Avoiding a major injury is good news for the rookie and hopefully he will return to the field quickly.

The New York Giants selected Kayvon Thibodeaux this year in the 2022 NFL Draft with the fifth overall selection. For a large portion of his college career, he was considered the consensus number one overall pick. While he was still considered a potential top pick, he did slide a few picks to the New York Giants. We here at Def Pen Sports hope for a quick recovery and return to the field for the rookie pass rusher.
