Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard, May Miss Some Time
Kawhi Leonard is missing his second straight game tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers with a torn ligament in his right hand and will sit out for the fourth time in his team’s last six game. He’ll have to wait for the swelling to go down before he can consider returning to action. He’ll need a couple of games before being able to return from the injury, Yahoo! Sports reports. Kawhi has still been listed as day-to-day and is questionable on Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks.
Kawhi has been averaging 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 22 games this season as the Spurs are seating 7th in Western Conference with a 17-9 record. The Spurs are also currently on a 2 game losing streak which includes a loss in triple OT to the Memphis Grizzles. The Spurs are 46-16 since their last three-game skid from Jan. 26-29. Now just imagine if they lose tonight against the Blazers.
The San Antonio Spurs next 10 games, including tonights contest against the Blazers, are against 9 teams that either made the playoffs last year or are in the playoffs if the season ended now. Kawhi Leonard missing time may be huge, especially with the Spurs facing off against 8 out of those 10 teams being from the Western Conference. 6 out of the 10 games are at home.
