Director Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal are considering making a film about former prisoner of war Bowe Bergdahl.
Deadline is reporting that Bigelow will direct with Boal writing and producing the film about the soldier who was held hostage by the Taliban for five years after leaving his base in Afghanistan.
Fox Searchlight is currently working on a rival film after they acquired the rights to ‘America’s Last Prisoner of War’ by Michael Hastings. It is an investigative article about Bergdahl.
Bigelow and Boal have found success with military dramas. They worked together on the Oscar-winning films ‘The Hurt Locker’ and ‘Zero Dark Thirty’.
