Karl-Anthony Towns will be one of the top picks in the upcoming draft next month. The Knicks will ‘most likely’ have a top pick in next months draft, unless they trade it or some crazy thing happening in the draft lottery. Karl-Anthony Towns grew up a Knicks fan. It could be a match made in heaven for both sides.
The Knicks need a big man badly and Towns could step in right away and do some damage with Carmelo Anthony. Towns, who grew up in New Jersey rooting for the Knicks, seems to like that idea.
The former Kentucky star told Marc Berman of the New York Post that he would love to play for the Knicks.
“If I have the opportunity to ever play for the Knicks, that’s what I would love to do,” Towns said. “In this area growing up, you don’t have the money to have the NBA League Pass, so you got the local teams. I always got a chance to watch the MSG channel and watch the Knicks play. I grew up to have a lot of respect for the Knicks.”
New York has a 19.9% chance at landing the first overall pick at the NBA Draft Lottery, which will take place on May 19th. One thing is certain, Towns will be one of the first two picks in the draft. What’s uncertain, will the team he rooted for growing up have one of those picks to select him?
