Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to be one of the top picks at the NBA Draft on Thursday, with most mock drafts having him as the top pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Towns, however, recently told For The Win that the Wolves haven’t promised drafting him first overall.
“It’s not true whatsoever,” Towns said. “I haven’t had any promises. Believe me if I had any promises, I would right now be getting fat and eating a large ice cream. But right now I’m still just trying to find out what team I’ll play for, and I’m still stressed out waiting for Thursday to come about.”
Towns said to try and ease some of that stress he goes bowling and plays a lot of golf.
While Towns may not know if he will be the first overall pick, most around the NBA believe that he will. The former Kentucky big man has only worked out for one team, the Timberwolves, and reports are the Timberwolves have promised Towns that they’ll take him first overall, despite what Towns said.
All of the drama will unfold on Thursday night in Brooklyn, when the Draft officially begins.
