If Karl-Anthony Towns is drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 1. in this year’s NBA Draft he will undoubtedly be another critical piece in their rebuilding process. Having Andrew Wiggins on the team is a more than enough reason to celebrate but with Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns manning the front court, the future only gets brighter for the Timberwolves.
Towns previously remained firm that he would not be working out for any teams privately before the Draft and now according to RealGM’s Shams Charania, the Kentucky big man will be visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday:
Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns, the favorite for the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft, will visit the Timberwolves in Minneapolis on Friday, league sources told RealGM. For now, it is unclear if Towns will participate in a private workout for the Timberwolves on Friday, but the two sides have finalized the meeting.
While Towns is still expected to go first, head coach Flip Saunders reportedly prefers Okafor. With Towns meeting with the Timberwolves on Friday, it will mark the first time he has met with an NBA team during this process. The Kentucky forward has been working out in Los Angeles and recently had lunch with current Laker, Julius Randle. Following the lunch, Towns shared that he would love to play with Kobe Bryant.
Friday will shed some light on how Towns feels once he is in front of the Timberwolves front office officials, and this meeting could definitely help the franchise come to a consensus, on who they want to choose with their No. 1. overall pick. Towns averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds this past season with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Here’s a video of Towns drilling NBA-range threes during his workouts, one just can’t deny his potential:
