The NBA has seen its share of talented big men. Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Tim Duncan are just a few of the Hall of Fame players that have played the center position. However, there hasn’t been anyone with the talent of Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns claims career averages of 21 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists per game for the Minnesota Timberwolves. His ability to work inside and out – in two NBA seasons he has 36 percent from long-distance – makes him virtually unstoppable.
As it stands, LeBron James holds the title of “best player in the league,” but the 21-year-old phenom has the confidence that it won’t be long before he’s in the conversation as well. In an interview with Marc J. Spears Towns discussed his future in the league.

“That is definitely something that I see in my sight [being the best]. I’m getting better every year,” Towns said. “I’m getting smarter. I’m getting faster, quicker, so I feel like I can easily be that. It’s just a matter of time for me. With that time that it takes to get there, I want to have a lot of experience in the playoffs. Hopefully, we make it deep and win some championships along the way so when I’m in my prime I have all the experience to take whatever team I’m fortunate to be with, hopefully, the Timberwolves, to get more championship runs.”
The Timberwolves added Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, and Taj Gibson as pieces around Towns. The 2016 Rookie of the Year will look to benefit from the addition of those battle-tested veterans. Having the All-Star presence of Butler can only help to challenge Towns as he looks to develop in his third season.
Towns averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds, and a little over two assists per game last year.
