Despite his political outbursts, Kanye West has managed to move forward after release his latest album, Ye. Since then, West has launched his Sunday Service series, perform at Coachella and now he’s embarking on another venture. Alongside Scooter Braun and Lee Sung Jin, West will launch a new Showtime series starring Jaden Smith.
The new series will be called Omniverse and will exist as a limited, half-hour anthology series. As described by Deadline, “Season one explores the Ego through an alternate reality Kanye West [has created].” Smith will star in the reality West creates in an unknown capacity.
After the announcement was made, Jin said, “I’m honored and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West.” He added, “Omniverse is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.”
The new series will mark West’s first time as a producer for a premium cable series. The show will also mark Smith’s first starring role on premium cable series.
