Mother’s Day is a festive day for many. However, it can be a difficult day for others as well. In 2007, Kanye West lost his mother, Donda West, during a tragic domestic procedure. The music superstar was hit hard by the loss of his mother, who guided him through the highs and lows of his childhood and career. Still, the Chicago native has pushed through and found ways to honor his late mother. Most notably, he helped found the nonprofit organization, Donda’s House.
This year, Universal Music Group is celebrating Donda West’s legacy with a Dear Donda EP. The project features classic Kanye West records like “Hey Mama” and “Never Let Me Down” featuring Jay-Z. It also features newer releases like “Only One” featuring Paul McCartney.
Adding to his Dear Donda, West continues to tease his upcoming release, Donda. The album was supposed to arrive last July, but it has been pushed back indefinitely. For now, Dear Donda allows fans to revisit some of his classic work.
