There is still no end in sight to the legal battle over the cancelled Saint Pablo Tour dates. Last fall, Kanye West cancelled the remaining tour dates, citing mental health issues. West’s company, Very Good Touring Inc, filed a $10 million lawsuit against insurance company Lloyd’s of London. The lawsuit is for failing to not pay out the insurance claims West is entitled to.
Lloyd’s of London filed a countersuit in response. The countersuit states West’s reasons for cancellation were “not beyond [his] control.” The countersuit does not explain why his actions were within his control. London does list exemptions to the insurance policy like drug and alcohol use, as well as pre-existing conditions.
New court documents reveal West’s legal team believes those are not legitimate reasons to deny their client insurance money. “The Counterclaim should be withdrawn or stricken,” court documents state.
Howard King, West’s lawyer, and the insurance company lawyers have declined to comment on the case.
