Things haven’t been going well for the former Hip-Hop mayor of Chicago, Illinois. In recent weeks, T.I. scolded him for meeting with Donald Trump, Drake called him out on The Shop and Pusha T was very critical of his recent actions during his interview on the Joe Budden Podcast. Despite all of these misgivings, Kanye West seems to be taking the first step towards fulfilling his promise to do better for his hometown. Today, it was revealed that Ye would be donating $73,540 to Chicago Mayoral Candidate, Amara Eniya.
The Chicago Mayoral Candidate followed the report with an official statement that read, “The Amara Enyia campaign thanks Chicago native, Kanye West for his generous action.” The statement later added, “Amara’s campaign is energizing people around the city with bold ideas and solutions that move Chicago forward. We are excited to engage people of all walks of life as we focus our efforts on getting on the ballot.”
The donation comes just a week after fellow Chicago rapper, Chance The Rapper, endorsed Eniya at a press conference at Chicago’s City Hall. Eniya is gaining some much needed publicity as election day nears.
