Adam Schefter of ESPN reports, linebacker Tamba Hali reached an agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs, on a three-year deal that will let him finish his career in Kansas City.
One of the Chiefs’ top priorities was bringing Hali back after voiding his contract on March 5th with all intentions of bringing back the veteran pass rusher. Hali brings back the leadership in Kansas City that has been so key for the Chiefs over his career. Hoping to keep their impressive defense intact for yet another year, the focus for Kansas City to bring back cornerback Sean Smith, whose drawing high interest from the Oakland Raiders.
Hali finished with 6.5 sacks last season, as well as receiving a sixth pro bowl selection. At the age of 32, Hali wanted to finish his career as a Chief but his loyalty is evident as he took $3 million pay cut last season to remain with the franchise.
The Chiefs placed a $10.8 million franchise tender on safety Eric Berry which gives them roughly $18.75 million to use during free agency, hoping to bring back Sean Smith.
