Justise Winslow has been enjoying a good Summer League performance for the Miami Heat. The 10th Overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, unfortunately, suffered an ankle sprain against the Celtics on Tuesday in Summer League action.
According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel:
Winslow was injured while trying to make a move on offense, when his left ankle turned without contact. He wound up limited to 10 minutes, 46 seconds, shooting 1 of 5 from the field for five points, with three rebounds, three turnovers and three fouls.
After helping the Heat get off to a 4-0 start in summer play, Winslow was held out of the fifth and final game of the Heat’s schedule at the Orlando Pro Summer League and the Heat’s first game in Las Vegas, a pair of victories, with what the Heat listed as “general soreness.” He then played limited minutes in Monday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, although he was in for the finish of that game, a three-point loss.
Doesn’t seem like a serious injury at all, but Winslow did show signs of light and dominance in his first 5 games of Summer League action. The Miami Heat know that their starting lineup looks like a force, but how about their bench? They added Gerald Green, Amar’e Stoudemire, and added Justise Winslow. With Napier and Chalmers as their Back up PG’s, their rotation is looking solid. Winslow will have his work cut out everyday though. He will be fighting for minutes against Green, Ennis, Wade, Walker, Tyler Johnson, and even Loul Deng.
