Matchroom Boxing has added another promising star to its roster. Australian heavyweight prospect Justis Huni has reportedly inked a “multi-year promotional deal” with the boxing enterprise.
“I’m extremely proud to announce I’ve signed with the world’s premier promoter,” Huni said, per Bad Left Hook.
“Many thanks to Mick and Fran at Tasman Fighters. Let’s get it!”
The 23-year-old heavyweight has a lengthy amateur resumé. After losing to Kamshybek Kunkabayev of Kazakhstan at the 2019 World Championships, he claimed the bronze medal. Shortly thereafter, he secured the first victory of his pro career against Faiga Opelu. Due to a change in rules, he still aimed to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Unfortunately, he was unable to compete in Tokyo due to a knuckle injury.
After recovering from a knuckle injury, Hunis has been able to continue his pro journey. Thus far, he’s put together a record of 7-0 with four knockouts. At this time, it is unclear when he will return to the ring next.
