Michael B. Jordan is the star of the latest Just Mercy trailer. Directed by Daniel Cretton, the film tells the story of Bryan Stevenson, played by Jordan, as he fights to get Walter McMillian, played by Jamie Foxx, off death row for a crime he did not commit.
Released earlier today, the new trailer opens up with Stevenson in court as McMillian’s son, played by C.J. LeBlanc, stands up and pleads to the judge.
LeBlanc says, “That’s my dad, sir.” He adds, “He ain’t do nothing wrong.”
Unfortunately, the judge does not show him any sympathy and has officers remove him from the courtroom.
Later on, Jordan says, “They convicted an innocent man.” He adds, “I was taught to fight for the people who need the help the most.”
Throughout the trailer, Jordan continues to paint the picture of the uphill battle that he and McMillian face on the road to justice.
Just Mercy will debut in select theaters on Christmas Day. On January 10th, it will be available everywhere. In the meantime, check out the full trailer above.
