Jussie Smollett has been dropped from an upcoming show appearance after his arrest.
Jussie Smollett was set to appear on an episode of TNT’s celeb-rap series Drop the Mic, but according to Deadline, TNT will no longer air the episode which was set to premiere on March 6. In the episode, the Empire actor faced off against former American Idol contestant, Clay Aiken.
Deadline reports that Drop the Mic executive producer Jensen Carp tweeted,
“We had an episode of Drop The Mic this season with Jussie that you’ll now (correctly) never see, but sadly it will shelve
@clayaiken, WHO WAS A VERY GOOD RAPPER (at least for now).”
In addition, a TNT spokesperson stated,
“We are pulling the episode in the interest of not being exploitative of an incredibly sensitive situation. We are holding on airing his episode for now and we are replacing it with the Raven Simon vs Ron Funches and Joey McIntyre vs Joey Fatone episode.”
Smollett was charged and arrested on Thursday for disorderly conduct and filing a false police report. According to the Chicago Police Department, the actor staged the attack because he was “dissatisfied” with his salary.
