Jussie Smollett could possibly be prosecuted for allegedly faking Chicago attack.
According to TMZ, a Chicago judge has “ordered a special prosecutor to be appointed to review the way prosecutors handled the case and ultimately dismissed it.” The judge stated, “if reasonable grounds exist to further prosecute Smollett, in the interest of justice the special prosecutor may take such action.”
Office of State Attorney Kim Foxx previously dropped all charges against the Empire actor. The charges were dropped after the grand jury indicted the actor on 16 felony counts for lying to police. Jussie Smollett claimed that he was the victim of a racial and homophobic attack by two men earlier this year.
Kim Foxx has responded to the judge’s order stating,
“I respectfully disagree with the court’s conclusion that, in the absence of any conflict, the appointment of a special prosecutor is required.”
