Julius Randle To Also Have Foot Surgery While Out
After being drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in last year’s draft, Julius Randle didn’t even make it through his first NBA game healthy. Randle broke his leg in the Lakers’ season opener, leaving him out for the season.
According to this official release from the Lakers, Randle will also undergo foot surgery while recovering from his broken leg:
Lakers forward Julius Randle will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to replace the screw in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Thordarson of the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center.
The surgery is tending to an old high school injury, the same one that was reported to possibly be hindering Randle from playing right away. There was some speculation that it may have even caused him to drop to the Lakers at the seventh pick.
Julius Randle’s rookie services sure could have been used by these struggling Lakers this season. His development process now starts with recovery and starting back at square one on the rookie circuit next season.
