The New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers need to step aside. The newest organization taking the crown of most dysfunctional has to belong to the Sacramento Kings.
They’ve said they don’t want to move DeMarcus Cousins, both from team President Vlade Divac and owner Vivek Ranadive. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Kings coach George Karl made it known that he wants DeMarcus Cousins gone.
What an opportune time for the Lakers to make it known that they are interested in trading for DeMarcus Cousins and they also have made some big pieces available for a possible huge deal with Sacramento.
Following from Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.
So what would L.A. be willing to give up to get Cousins? Julius Randle is in play, according to an NBA source, as well as the No. 2 pick in Cousins trade talk, which has looped in a third team at various points.
The Lakers may have lucked out with the recent news of George Karl having issues with Cousins. Previously, a deal for Cousins may have required a ‘godfather offer’ with Randle, their second overall pick, their 27th overall pick and possibly guys like Ryan Kelly and Tarik Black. Just throw the house at Cousins.
Now with the coach making it known that he doesn’t want DeMarcus on his team, the Kings have almost no leverage. Not to mention it also appears that Cousins is fully aware of what is going on, so he might also just want out of Sacramento.
