Judge Brenda Penny has denied Britney Spears’ latest request to remove her father from the financial aspects of her conservatorship.
Penny’s decision comes exactly one week after Spears delivered an emotional statement in front of the court regarding the conservatorship. During the statement, the pop star said that she had been “bullied” by her father, Jamie Spears.
“So basically this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I — I deserve to have a life. I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two- to three-year break and just, you know, do what I want to do,” Spears stated.
“I feel ganged up on and I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone. And I’m tired of feeling alone.”
Spears and her attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, will appear in court again on July 14. Spears and Ingham III could file a petition to have the conservatorship removed immediately. This is a move that Spears was not aware she could.
“I didn’t know I could petition the conservatorship to end it,” she said.
“I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I honestly didn’t know that.”
