New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is no stranger to unfortunate injuries. He had problems with a stress reaction in his right leg two seasons ago, and this past season he suffered a fracture to his right eye, which led head coach Alvin Gentry to shut him down for the season in March.
Holiday plans to wear protective goggles to accommodate his injured eye.

Jrue Holiday said he’s 100 percent but may wear goggles this season on the floor for the #Pelicans.

We’ve seen lots of players protect their faces with masks and goggles, including Kirk Hinrich, Tony Parker, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Larry Sanders. Many have made it work and some have preferred it even after they injury has fully healed. The fact that Holiday is making this known so soon might suggest he is still concerned about that eye, and wants to take precaution right away this coming season.
Holiday played in 65 games last season, averaging 16.8 points and 6 assists in 28 minutes per game. He played 74 combined games in the two seasons prior. Adjusting to a new look is added to Holiday’s tasks for the coming season, which also include being an offensive threat and staying healthy otherwise.
