JR JR JR. What are we going to do with you? Didn’t South Park tell you that hitting dudes in the groin is not cool? You’re lucky you only got a one game suspension.
For striking Washington’s Glen Rice Jr in the groin. JR Smith, who has been surprisingly good recently on and off the court, has been handed a one game suspension according to ESPN.com.
Smith struck Rice Jr. on a drive to the basket in the second half of the Knicks’ loss to Washington. Rice Jr. was whistled for a foul on the play.
Smith is suspended for Wednesday night’s game against Detroit.
His total in fines since joining the Knicks in 2011 is $105,000, not including the loss of game checks during his suspensions.
What could you do with just over 100K? This is just a blip on JR Smith’s bank account but in this day of max contracts to pretty much anyone over 80 on NBA2K. Fines are pretty much pointless. It’s suspensions that get the job done. And the NBA is finally noticing that.
