Why does it take the Cleveland Cavaliers so long to lock up everyone? They seem to really take their time with it. Most teams are already sorted with locking up the players they already have, but the Cavs have only gotten Richard Jefferson done.
They are still sorting out LeBron James but it’s safe to say that he isn’t leaving, technically they’re still talking to Tyronn Lue who is still on his Assistant Coach salary and according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, they’re apart by some margin on J.R. Smith.
Smith and the Cavs have been in negotiations but remain apart on terms. Last week, Cavs general manager David Griffin told ESPN he was “very confident” the team would work out a deal to re-sign Smith.
I’ll just go ahead and say that they will get something done. They’re the champions, why would J.R. Smith leave? Also, being in Cleveland has probably been the best thing that’s happened to him. As a person he has matured on a substantial level, he has a ring, his play is much better, why would he leave all that?
