So not sure if you peeped but the Cleveland Cavaliers eclipsed the NBA record for 3-Pointers made in a game. Playoffs and regular season. I’m just surprised the Golden State Warriors haven’t done that yet but who knew that the Cavs had it in them?! The Atlanta Hawks sure didn’t.
J.R. Smith was a large component of that barrage, contributing 7 to the record total of 25. Five of those threes were contested, and that’s apparently just how he likes it.
“Guys are always looking at me like: ‘What are you doing? What are you doing?’ This is my shot,” said Smith, whose Cavs face the Hawks in Game 3 at 7 p.m. ET on Friday (ESPN). “Regardless of how funny it may look to you, I feel as if I can make it when I get that opportunity.”
“I’d rather take a contested shot than an open shot any day,” Smith said. “It’s kind of boring when you take open shots.”
You can see the autobiography now. “Open shots are boring: The J.R. Smith story.“
Nice little joke by Brian Windhorst there. I think that’s the perfect name for Smith’s biography by the way, that’d be amazing to read. The stories he must have.
But onto the meat. The disrespect he’s showing to the Hawks with this. “I prefer contested” are you freaking kidding?! You toyed with Kyle Korver in that game and now you rubbing salt into that already deep wound. I hope ATL take a game with Kyle Korver bombing a game winner right over J.R. Smith. Karma is a fickle you-know-what.
