If Joyner Lucas has proven anything this year, it’s that he can pull A-list talent for his videos and music. Four months ago, Diddy, Mark Wahlberg and George Lopez all appeared in his “Zim Zimma” video. Then, he tapped Lil’ Baby for “OJ & Ramen.” More recently, he grabbed Rick Ross and T.I. for the “Legend” video. Now, he’s back with yet another top-tier talent, J. Cole. The two connected on a new track called “Your Heart” that Joyner Lucas teased on Twitter earlier this week.
With production from Hagan, LC and Palaze, the two rappers reflect on their past ways of doing women wrong. Joyner Lucas kicks off the song by flexing on his ex before J. Cole steps in to offer the perspective of a married man who is not proud of his past ways.
“I broke your heart, huh?/You knew I was a f*ck n*gga from the start, huh?/You should’ve listened when they said I was a dawg, huh?/You should’ve listened to your head when you had thoughts, huh?/That’s what you thought, huh? I left you scarred, huh,” Joyner Lucas raps.
“I hate a f*ck n*gga, used to be a fuck n*gga/Couldn’t even blame her if she did f*ck n*ggas/You run your b*tch through the mud, you deserve that/So you can feel it for yourself where it hurt at,” Cole adds in the second verse.
Beyond this collaboration, J. Cole has also been doing some work of his own. While on tour with 21 Savage and Morray, the North Carolina native delivered a freestyle over Drake’s “Pipe Down.” Meanwhile, Joyner Lucas has been teasing a new album that may be on the horizon.
