Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Pro Bowler missed the entire 2015 season due to violating the NFL’s drug policy. He only played five games in 2014 due to another drug-related suspension. According to Rapoport, Gordon will be suspended for the first four games of the year, but will be able to participate in training camp.
This is absolutely fantastic news for the Browns, as they finally get their #1 receiver back. After losing Travis Benjamin to free agency, the team is incredibly thin at the wide receiver position. Gordon will play opposite first-round pick Corey Coleman, another Baylor alum. If he stays out of trouble, he and Coleman could be a fantastic duo for years to come. Keep in mind that Gordon is still only 25, and Coleman 22.
While the Browns are unlikely to get out of the AFC North cellar, having Gordon back makes them a better team. It will also help Robert Griffin III, who is hoping to resurrect his career in Cleveland. Having an elite receiver to throw to will definitely boost his performance.
