Calderon, 36, is a decent backup point guard on the offensive end. Last year for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Calderon averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 assists in 16 minutes per game, while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and an astounding 46.4 percent from 3-point range.
While his best days are behind him, Calderon, heading into his 14th NBA season, is still a serviceable backup guard.
It’s unclear where exactly Calderon will fit in in Detroit, given that the team already has several guards: Reggie Jackson, Ish Smith, Luke Kennard, Khyri Thomas, Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks.
