The Los Angeles Lakers are a team heading towards the bottom of the NBA standings in an attempt to improve their chances of securing a top three draft pick. The new Lakers front office led by Magic Johnson is looking to make some moves immediately.
They have dealt their leading scorer Lou Williams and in return secured a first-round draft pick from the Houston Rockets and veteran wingman Corey Brewer. They also traded Brazilian point guard Marcelo Huertas to the Rockets for young guard Tyler Ennis. But they also appear to want to rid themselves of another veteran, Jose Calderon.
The Spanish guard doesn’t have much left to offer the NBA, and he could be a prime candidate to join a team and make a run towards a championship with a contender in a limited role. According to a report, Calderon could land with the Rockets or Warriors.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Jose Calderon has emerged as a potential candidate to join the NBA’s annual March buyout market, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN that it’s not yet a certainty Calderon will secure his release from the Lakers in the coming days, but the sides are indeed discussing the options as Wednesday’s playoff eligibility deadline nears.
Sources say that Calderon, if he winds up hitting the open market, would instantly become a target for both the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.
