Now with the dramatic situation revolving around Kawhi Leonard’s future on the court finally ironed out, there are still other matters that also need to be settled.
With the disgruntled Leonard now a Toronto Raptor for at least one season with his contract expiring next summer, his long-term outlook remains a question mark. Leonard’s future with the Jordan brand is also reportedly in flux. Leonard has been a major part of the Jordan brand in recent years but according to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Jordan will let Leonard become a sneaker free agent once his contract expires in October.
After making a strong 4 year / $22 Million extension offer to Kawhi Leonard earlier this year that was turned down, Jordan Brand plans to let Leonard walk this fall once his deal expires in October, according to industry sources.

Kawhi Leonard had been a member of the Jordan brand since coming into the league but that will not hold true in the future. Though Leonard’s rollercoaster situation this past year is anything but appealing from a PR standpoint, it is unknown whether this was why Jordan won’t renew his contract.
Jordan already rosters plenty of NBA talent with players such as Russell Westbrook, Jimmy Butler, Chris Paul and more all under contract. Leonard will have the full ability to choose his next sneaker brand in mere months, depending on how much interest the once best two-way player in the NBA garners.
