Simmons, 27, was a useful role player for the Spurs last season, and averaged 10.5 points per game in the playoffs, shining after Kawhi Leonard got injured.
Simmons famously got his start in the NBA by paying to try out for the D-League (now G-League).
Last regular season for the Spurs, Simmons averaged 6.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor and 29.4 percent from three-point range. In his first season, though Simmons shot a much-better 38.3 percent from beyond the arc on just 0.4 fewer attempts per game.
