Jonathan Daviss will reportedly star as Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus in the upcoming film about the award-winning entertainer’s life, legacy, and career thus far. Daviss will work in his most high-profile role yet under the direction of Corey Brewer and alongside the production of Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer, and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.
Daviss is a 25-year-old actor from Texas, best known for his work as Pope Heyward in the Netflix original series, Outer Banks. In addition, he has appeared in a collection series, shorts, and made-for-television films, including Revolution, Deliverance Creek, All the Marbles, Edge of the World, Age of Summer, and Shattered Memories.
Daviss will step into the shoes of the legendary entertainer from Long Beach, California, who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide while picking up more than a dozen GRAMMY nominations. Over the years, he’s taken his talents from the recording booth to the film set as an actor, director, and producer. Most recently, he starred in The Underdoggs and executive produced 1992, starring Tyrese Gibson. With the launch of Death Row Pictures, the California native will continue to venture into the world of film and television with his first biopic, following his contemporaries, Tupac Shakur, N.W.A and others.
